On behalf of the joint education project between the Minnesota Well Owners Organization, the University of Minnesota Water Resources Center, and MGWA, Jeff Stoner testified before the Legislative Subcommittee on Water Policy in support of the draft bill entitled “Volunteer Private Well Water Testing Program.” During the 5-minute briefing on January 13, 2022, Jeff described current efforts to educate private well owners in Minnesota about the value of testing their water and managing their water supply to support safe drinking-water. This effort is endorsed by the MGWA Education Committee. Although the presentation was met with good questions from legislators, an author for this bill had not been identified at the time of the briefing. Legislative leadership and support to implement this collaborative proposal will be tracked for a statewide program for private well water testing and well-owner education.
