Q: Talk a little bit about your role and professional background.
A: I work as a hydrogeologist and project manager for Spheros Environmental, primarily working on projects related to groundwater supply.
Q: What made you interested in groundwater?
A: After completing my undergraduate studies in Geology in Colorado, I moved back home to Minnesota and was a student at the University of Minnesota’s hydrogeology field camp (aka hydrocamp). Hydrocamp field trips studying karst in southeast Minnesota and groundwater-surface water interaction in lakes in northern Minnesota turned me from a geologist into a hydrogeologist, and I’ve never looked back!
Q: What inspired you to join the board?
A: I’ve gotten a lot from MGWA through the course of my career and am hoping to give back by volunteering on the board.
Q: Favorite place in Minnesota?
A: My family’s cabin on Burntside Lake, near Ely.
Q: Fun fact about yourself?
A: I’m the only person (that I know of) who has snorkeled through the pond created by the aquifer test discharge water at the U of M’s hydrogeology field camp. I have the murky go-pro footage to prove it. It was cold.
Q: Interests/favorite hobbies outside of groundwater?
A: Surface water is pretty cool too, I enjoy spending time on the lakes and rivers of Minnesota with my family. I am a rabid cross county skier, and train year-round to race in cross county ski marathons.
