I am a senior at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating this spring with a B.S. in Environmental Science (Aquatic and Earth Sciences track) and a B.A. in Spanish, along with a minor in Spatial and Information Technology. Throughout my time at Drake, I have been actively involved in undergraduate research, including studying lead dynamics in soils at a Polk County, Iowa, trap shooting range and assessing its human and ecological health implications. I have also contributed to research on environmental justice in Des Moines and modeled Lepidoptera population dynamics in Indiana.
Beyond academics, I gained hands-on experience as an intern with Dakota County’s Groundwater Protection Unit, where I worked to identify unsealed drinking water wells in the Hastings Drinking Water Supply Management Area. Additionally, I worked with the Dakota Soil and Water Conservation District, conducting ground and surface water monitoring.
After graduation, I will be returning to Minnesota and joining WSP’s Earth and Environment team in Minneapolis, where I look forward to expanding my skillset and growing as an environmental professional.
