Nick Budde is excited to step into the interim role as treasurer for MGWA and begin giving back to the organization. Nick started attending MGWA conferences as a college undergraduate and has found great value in the knowledge, perspectives, and professional connections shared through the organization as he has moved from college and into his career. He was a 2018 recipient of the Gil Gabanski scholarship, for which he continues to be grateful. He currently works at the Minnesota Department of Health as a hydrologist in Source Water Protection developing wellhead protection plans for communities of northeastern Minnesota. Previous career stops include time with the County Groundwater Atlas program at the Minnesota DNR and the Groundwater Protection program at the North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality. Nick has an undergraduate hydrology degree from St. Cloud State University and master’s degree in geology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. As MGWA treasurer, Nick will assist business operations staff in managing MGWA’s finances and provide regular financial updates to the board.
