Rock County and Nobles County Geologic Atlases

by the Minnesota Geological Survey

Both the Rock County and Nobles County Geologic Atlases – Part A, were recently published by the Minnesota Geological Survey.

A complete atlas consists of Part A, prepared by the Minnesota Geological Survey, which includes the water-well database and 1:100,000-scale geologic maps showing properties and distribution of sediments and rocks at the surface and in the subsurface; and Part B, constructed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, which includes maps of water levels in aquifers, direction of groundwater flow, water chemistry, and sensitivity to pollution. Atlases are usually initiated by a request from a county and a commitment to provide in-kind service. The Minnesota Geological Survey is committed to the expeditious completion and periodic updating of atlases statewide.
